We'll let you know whether your art is a good match for one of our upcoming projects. If so, we'll discuss the specific details of the project with you, then send you a contract.

We usually seek exclusive rights to use the art within a specific industry (fiction, nonfiction, roleplaying games, etc.), but the artist retains the copyright on the work and may license rights in other industries (nonfiction, fiction, trading cards, etc.).

Submitting Artwork

Artwork can be submitted electronically. The files may be sent in zipped form, and may be transmitted either by upload (the best method) or sending a CD or zip disk (CD preferred).

Artwork should be submitted as a high resolution (600 dpi) TIFF.

Artwork specifications

Cover illustrations should leave open space within the picture for the title; usually a couple inches at the top, though check on the amount of space needed for title and author information for the particular work. The artwork should reduce well for display as a thumbnail.

We tend to prefer simple artwork, without a lot of design elements vying for attention. However, preferred style will vary with the project. The most important thing is that the artwork evokes the mood of the text for which it's commissioned.
