What we're looking for:

Fiction

Novels, novellas, and short stories in the following genres:
  • fantasy
  • historical
  • mystery
  • science fiction
  • suspense/thriller
Other genres may be considered.

Nonfiction

We are particularly interested in history of the sort not found in textbooks -- we are not looking for dry recitations of names and dates, but the stories of people from earlier times. Pre-20th century is preferred.

We are open to other types of nonfiction, especially works related in some manner to drama or gaming.

Gaming materials

We are interested in the areas of live action roleplaying and pen and paper roleplaying, as well as other games which may be delivered via an electronic medium. We tend towards rules-light roleplaying games, with focus primarily on plot or setting.

For pen and paper roleplaying, we are particularly looking for adventures and scenarios utilizing the Fudge system. Adventures utilizing other rules-light, open gaming systems may be considered.

For live action games, we are looking for LARPs written for a dozen players or less.

Other

We will also consider other types of works, such as plays or graphic novels.

Queries

If you are interested in submitting to Rogue Publishing, first send a short description of the work, no more than a few paragraphs, to publisher@roguepublishing.com.

Proposals

If your query piques our interest, you will be asked to submit a proposal. Proposals should detail the plot of a novel; outline all major topics to be covered in a work of nonfiction; or explain the basic scenario and rules system of a game. Proposals often will include a sample of the finished work; usually (but not always) the first several chapters.

Submissions

Electronic submissions can be made in ASCII, MS Word, or WordPerfect format. For other formats, ask first. Although electronic submissions are preferred, hard copy submissions are also acceptable.
