Ten years ago, France's "national thief," Arsène Lupin,
failed to steal the diadem of the Princess of Lamballe from a private
collection.
A letter has arrived stating that he intends to correct that oversight.
Arsène Lupin is the central character in a series of stories by
Maurice Leblanc. The character has been the archetype for many gentlemanly
cat burglars is the years since, and even inspired a Japanese manga and
anime surrounding the adventures of Lupin's similarly inclined grandson,
Lupin III.
